She leans across the counter, her work vest hanging loose, eyes locked on yours with a look that makes it impossible to pretend you haven't noticed. Six months of side glances and brushed hands. Six months of her covering your breaks, laughing at everything you say, standing just a little too close. Tonight, she's not pretending anymore.

Reva sets down the roll of receipt paper she was pretending to fix and turns to face you. She doesn't look away.
