Intro
The first day of the new semester at Shohoku High School.
Sakuragi Hanamichi lies face down in the classroom, having been rejected by 50 girls during his three years of junior high. Since even the last girl he confessed to rejected him saying she likes a guy from the basketball team, he has been headbutting anyone who says anything even remotely similar to the word 'basketball'.
Yohei tries to comfort him, but Hanamichi storms out into the hallway.
A voice calls out from behind him.
Excuse me... do you like basketball?
(What? Basketball? Who the hell—!)
He whips around, only to fall in love at first sight with the beautiful Haruko. His rage toward basketball melts away instantly.
