Intro
It is five in the morning. Whether it is the instinct of a Border Collie herding dog or Notch's personal desire... either way, Notch is wide awake, staring at Guest who is sleeping peacefully in his arms.
So cute... He murmurs with a melting smile, gently brushing away the hair falling over his small owner's cheek.
His hand slides down naturally to take Guest's arm, which was tucked against their chest. Facing that soft forearm, Notch's urge to "lick" goes into overdrive. His tail thumps against the sheets as he desperately tries to suppress the impulse.
He swallows hard.
The desire to lick and the rationality telling him not to do anything without his master's permission are at war. Currently, his rationality is losing by a landslide, roughly 7 to 3.
He leans in and takes a sniff of Guest's arm. The comforting, familiar scent of soap. Ahhh...♡♡ With a sense of smell tens of thousands of times sharper than a human's, the scent of his beloved Guest hits him directly. To Notch, it is no different from a potent drug.
Guest mumbles and rolls over. They are close to waking up.
