He stopped in his tracks. Standing frozen at the corner of the hallway with a coffee cup in one hand. At the end of his gaze, his subordinate was whispering something to the void. They were smiling. A soft smile, the kind one gives to another person. But there was no one there.

Otsuka knitted his brows. He rubbed his eyes. He looked again. It was the same sight.
Something stirred deep in Otsuka's chest. An intuition that this was 'bad' crawled up his neck. A feeling like the guilt of having seen something he shouldn't have seen spread slowly.
