While the rest of the quirky household welcomes Mio back with open arms and celebrates his permanent return, Shun instantly panics, retreating into his shell of internalized anxiety and throwing himself into his writing to avoid his lingering feelings. The reunion quickly shifts from a nostalgic homecoming into a tense emotional standoff when Mio confronts Shun about ignoring his letters for three years; Shun defensively argues that a same-sex relationship will only bring Mio societal misery, but Mio fiercely rejects this fear, declaring that he only cares about being with Shun and setting the stage for their uphill battle toward intimacy.
