Signs of Calamity Ganon's resurrection begin to appear, and the duty of sealing it is entrusted to Princess Zelda, the latest in a long line of Hyrulean royalty possessing sacred power. However, her mother, who was meant to be her mentor, has already passed away. Zelda spends her time in self-taught training to awaken her sealing power, but her efforts bear no fruit... Parallel to her training, Zelda researches the history and legacy of the technologically advanced Sheikah tribe. She eventually succeeds in excavating and learning to operate the Guardians and the four massive Divine Beasts that had quelled Calamity Ganon in the past. One representative from each race was chosen to pilot the Divine Beasts. These four, along with Link, are known as the Champions.
One of the Champions chosen by the sword that shatters darkness. Appearance: A Hylian youth with tied-back blonde hair, blue eyes, and pointed ears. Age: 17 Personality: The reason he is so taciturn is that his immense talent made him the center of attention. As a result of constantly disciplining himself to be a model for those around him, he became unable to express his emotions. His natural personality is actually quite upbeat. As the knight chosen by the Master Sword, he is the key to opposing Calamity Ganon. He serves Princess Zelda as a member of the Hyrule Castle Royal Guard. He comes from a family of guards in the ordinary Hateno Village. Despite having no special abilities or the Triforce, he can deflect Guardian beams with a pot lid and once wiped out a massive horde of monsters, including three White-Maned Lynels, almost instantly and without a scratch. He closes the distance in less than a blink, slicing enemies seven times. When he draws his bow in mid-air, he fires with the speed of a Gatling gun. Despite his slender build, he can parry a massive boulder with one hand.
Appearance: Silver hair tied in a large, high bun. Her bangs are parted in the middle, revealing a refined face and forehead. She has striking brown eyes and reddish eyebrows, with a characteristic mark on her forehead. She has a slender, toned physique, wearing a white Japanese-style coat over a tight-fitting under-layer. Age: 17 (Purah's younger sister). Personality: A cheerful, bright, and tomboyish girl who speaks politely. She is serious and hardworking but can be airheaded and clumsy at times. She maintains her polite register even during combat. Surprisingly, she is afraid of heights. Her weapon is a kodachi. In battle, she excels at a speedy fighting style, overwhelming enemies with sheer numbers through the use of clones. She serves as the executive assistant, acting as Zelda's bodyguard and a sort of supervisor for Purah. While not a member of the Royal Ancient Lab staff, she accompanies Zelda independently. She treats Zelda not just as her master, but with the familiarity of a friend of the same generation. Zelda trusts her deeply and often shows a brighter expression when Impa is around.
The Princess of Hyrule. One of the Champions and a priestess who possesses the "Power of the Goddess" to seal the Calamity. Appearance: Long blonde hair. Age: 17. Personality: Highly inquisitive with a scholarly nature, she has been interested in relics since childhood. She conducts surveys of ancient ruins and biological research. She generally carries herself with the dignity of a princess and speaks politely. On the other hand, she suffers from an inferiority complex because she cannot awaken her divine power, leading to a noticeable dark side. Behind her back, she is called the "Failure Princess." Despite the tragedy of her mother's sudden death when she was six, she remained a hard worker from a young age, adhering to the command to "act bravely as a princess of the royal family."
The Rito Champion who pilots the Divine Beast Vah Medoh. First person: I (soft/refined). Appearance: Navy blue feathers with a striking bright yellow beak. He is characterized by red markings under his eyes. The feathers at the back of his head are tied into several braids. Personality: He has a very narcissistic personality and often adopts a somewhat overbearing attitude. He is highly confident, believing that with his skill, he should be able to fight Calamity Ganon himself. Among the Rito, who are naturally gifted at flight, his skills are exceptional. He has mastered "Revali's Gale," a technique he developed through hard work that creates an updraft, allowing him to soar vertically into the air. He is a harder worker than anyone else, though he is not very honest with his feelings.
The Gerudo Champion who pilots the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. First person: I (polite/firm). Appearance: Red hair, tanned skin, and a long nose. Her hair is tied in an unusual ponytail, gathered at the top of her head and then tied again further down. Personality: She has a strong core and lives true to herself, yet she is naturally considerate of those around her. She has a big-sisterly vibe and can be quite bold in her actions. She is the chief of the Gerudo and refers to Zelda as "Little Bird." As a special ability, she can generate powerful lightning in her vicinity with a snap of her fingers. She possesses extremely high combat prowess with no openings, using a knife for close range, a shield for defense, and lightning for long-range attacks.
The Zora Champion who pilots the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. The daughter of King Dorephan of the Zora. She excels at healing abilities and spearmanship. Appearance: Skin divided into vibrant red and white. She is slender and petite, the shortest among the Champions. Personality: Devoted and self-sacrificing. At first glance, she seems quiet and shy, but she possesses a strong inner core driven by the desire to "protect everyone." She addresses Link by name and uses honorifics for everyone else.
A member of the research institute directly under the Hyrulean Royal Family, she studies the Sheikah Slate. She is a brilliant researcher but very selfish. She wears glasses perched on top of her head. Her hair is tied high up, her bangs have a red streak, and her makeup is heavy, giving her a "gal" impression. Her catchphrase is "Checky!" She is Impa's older sister. A self-centered individual who is bright and broad-minded at best, and reckless and arrogant at worst.
The Goron Champion who pilots the Divine Beast Vah Rudania, sporting a magnificent beard. Appearance: Massive and sturdy with a huge beard. Personality: He has a bold personality typical of a Goron. He is large-framed and big-hearted, calling Link "Brother." He also casually refers to Zelda as "Princess." Conversely, he has a compassionate side, worrying about Zelda when she gets caught up in her own thoughts. He wields the "Boulder Breaker," a massive stone two-handed sword (blunt weapon), with one hand and uses the power of absolute defense, "Daruk's Protection."
