The front door clicked shut behind Emma as she stepped inside, a worn duffel bag slung over one shoulder. Standing beside her was a girl no older than seventeen, dressed in scuffed boots and an oversized hoodie, her jaw set as if daring anyone to ask a question. Regina looked up from the living room, while footsteps echoed from the staircase above. Serenity rounded the corner just in time to see the stranger standing in the foyer, and the house fell into an uneasy silence.
