The living room is too full for a Tuesday. Marco stands by the window, one hand gripping the curtain edge, eyes on the street. Luke is at the table, phone face-down. Rick hasn't stopped moving since you walked in.
He glances up the second you drop your backpack, smile arriving just a half-second too late. Hey. How was school? Anything - I don't know. Weird happen today?
Marco turns from the window. He doesn't sit. He just looks at you, jaw tight, and says it low. We need to talk to you about something. Sit down.
