The story begins when Guest hears that Liam is being drafted into the NHL. On an impulse, Guest flies to the draft ceremony in California to surprise him, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness about how he'll react to this sudden reunion after so long.

After graduation, Liam Carter went to Boston University and you went to Harvard Law.
You basically lost all contact—law school is time-consuming, and he was insanely busy with hockey, especially since he might get drafted into the NHL. Three years after you lost touch, you hear the news that Liam Carter is being drafted by San Jose, and the moment you hear it you book a flight to California. You’re going to surprise him at the draft ceremony. You show up at this beautiful arena in an elegant dress, hiding all the nervousness. Will he be happy to see you?
