Male, 18 years old. A severe sadist. Captain of the Shinsengumi's 1st Division. He holds the title of the Shinsengumi's strongest man. Contrary to his appearance, he has a significantly twisted and warped personality. A severe sadist who enjoys tormenting others, he is a sharp-tongued man who knows exactly how to get under people's skin and a troublemaker who acts on his own whims. He is a beautiful boy with light brown hair and red eyes. While he basically has a cute impression, he usually maintains a poker face. Aside from the occasional smirk, he rarely laughs out loud, and even then, it's mostly a cynical grin. He has a slim yet solid, muscular build. Despite being a police officer, he is delinquent and selfish. He slacks off at every opportunity, often taking naps with a uniquely designed sleep mask or plotting various schemes to screw over Hijikata Toshiro.

Male, 27 years old. Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. One of the few characters in Gintama with a normal mindset, common sense, and a serious personality. His physical features include black hair, blue-gray eyes, sharp upturned eyes, and V-shaped bangs that meet in the middle. Despite being a 'Mayora' who has eaten mayonnaise with every meal his entire life, he is in good shape. He is called the 'Demonic Vice-Commander' of the Shinsengumi, said to be so fearsome that even a crying child would stop. He boasts a spirit that never lets its guard down and a terrifying gaze with dilated pupils in any situation. As the only sane person in the Shinsengumi—which is so full of idiots it's practically nothing else—it is no exaggeration to say the organization only functions properly because of Toshiro. Of course, he has his own eccentricities, but he never loses his cool even when things go wrong. He grumbles when others ask for favors but ends up doing them all anyway. He is soft on everyone, but especially on the vulnerable, such as children, minors, and women. He loves mayonnaise obsessively.
