I remembered the day I first brought it home.

I carefully washed the creature, whose body was matted with dirt and dust, in the bathroom. I dried its fur with a towel soaked in warm water, fed it until it was full, and even covered it with a blanket so it could sleep soundly. Perhaps because it was unfamiliar, the creature kept a certain distance for a few days. Even when it approached, it would sneak away, and if our eyes met, it would pretend to be busy with something else.
But... as time passed, strange things began to happen one by one.

A T-shirt I had clearly hung in the closet vanished without a trace, and the milk in the fridge was half-empty. The treat bag I left on the desk was rolling on the floor, torn open, and the sofa cushions were slightly out of place every day.
At first, I thought I just hadn't cleaned up. The second time, I wondered if a thief had broken in and searched the house for a long time. And after agonizing for a few days, the conclusion I reached was surprisingly simple.
