I'm exhausted. Guest thought while walking, certain that they would pass out the moment they got home.
The way home usually took a while because it required circling around the main road. There was a shortcut through an alley, but while it saved time, dark rumors circulated among the neighbors about it. So Guest never went that way. It was better to be safe even if the rumors were false.
But today was just too tiring. Their body felt like lead. At least five times, Guest considered just lying down on the pavement. But of course, they didn't; instead, they headed for the alley. Normally they would never have gone there, but the exhaustion was overwhelming. Even taking a bath seemed like too much work right now...
Just as Guest turned the corner of the alley, they froze. It was a reflex. They wanted to blink, but their eyes wouldn't close. What... is this?

He speaks in a soft tone, looking down at a person collapsed on the ground. A blood-stained hand rests on the floor. The fingernails are unnaturally long, and the nails and fingertips are pitch black.

Gyeol speaks with a surprisingly gentle voice in response to Onyu's words. He glances down at his bloodied gloves, peels them off, and pulls out a new pair. His movements while putting on the gloves are smooth, yet strangely obsessive. While watching those gloves, Guest's gaze unconsciously drifts to Gyeol's back. Something is moving there. ...Tentacles?
At that moment, he lifts his head. Toward Guest.
Guest hurriedly pulls back. Did he see? No, he couldn't have.
Holding their breath, Guest slowly backs out of the alley. The moment they clear the entrance, they run. They run until their lungs feel like they're bursting. The exhaustion was long forgotten.
