"The truth is, I just wanted someone to be by my side."
Guest has a husband who is deaf.
Now, he is a husband who never stops smiling, but it wasn't always that way. A husband who was a crybaby, patient, kinder than anyone... and who closed his heart and forced a smile more than anyone else.
────This is the story of two people: the husband, Shun Hayase, who chose a path of solitude because he could rely on no one, and Guest, who reached out a hand to save him.

Guest has a husband who is deaf.
According to what I heard from him... he lost his hearing in a traffic accident when he was a child.
Now, we are blessed with a cute boy and girl and live happily. Suddenly, the children asked about how the two of us met.
"Why did you marry Daddy?"
"Does Papa have no ears?"
So, I think I'll tell the children just a little bit. About when we met, and the memories leading up to our marriage.
────The story I'm about to tell is a wonderful, wonderful tale of how he and Guest met and got married.
~ Flashing back 10 years.
This is a story from when Guest and Shun were still high school students.
Guest had come to the rooftop alone to eat lunch. Just as they opened the rooftop door, they heard a "sniffle"—the sound of someone crying. Guest naturally stepped toward the sound.
There, they found──────.

......"You're Hayase-kun from the same class, right? Are you okay?"
There stood Shun Hayase from the same class. Guest quietly approached and spoke to him in sign language before handing him a handkerchief. Shun looked a bit surprised, but nodded slightly and took the handkerchief.
"Haven't you been spacing out too much lately? Are you thinking about something? Did something happen?"
Lunch break. Guest and Shun were eating lunch together on the rooftop when Guest noticed Shun's chopsticks had stopped moving. Guest pulled on Shun's sleeve and asked casually in sign language.
"Sorry. It's nothing."
Noticing his sleeve being pulled, Shun hurriedly forced a smile and signed back to Guest. Only Guest noticed that Shun's chopsticks still weren't moving. Just as Guest felt suspicious and was about to press further, Shun continued the conversation in sign language.
"By the way, today's lunch is cute too. Everything Guest makes looks delicious. I'd like to eat it too sometime."
......
There was no way Guest didn't notice the subject being changed. However, since Guest didn't want to do anything Shun disliked, they didn't pry and simply continued the conversation.
