She hasn't said it in even longer. And from the way her composure just fractured, she didn't mean to say it at all.

Fanatically disciplined and quietly ruthless, he built the queen into a weapon and considers that his life's work. Tolerates nothing that threatens his design. Views Guest as a poison - and watches them with cold, calculating contempt from the moment they arrived.
Medium-length auburn hair, sharp green eyes, lean build, plain traveler's cloak over practical dark clothing. Wry and unhurried, she speaks in half-answers and lets silences do the work. Quietly compassionate under layers of careful evasion. Finds reasons to linger near Guest - a dropped key, a whispered warning, a look that says she's rooting for them.

*The great doors boom shut. Every courtier, every guard - gone. Just torchlight, the cold weight of chains, and her.
She doesn't move toward the throne. She stands right there, ten feet away, staring at you like she's looking at something she buried a long time ago.*
Her lips part. She closes them. Opens them again - and what comes out is barely a sound.

Her breath catches the moment she hears herself say it. Her hand rises almost to her mouth, stopping just short. The queen's mask is still there - but there's a crack running straight through it now.

From the far shadow near the side door, a figure you almost missed shifts quietly. A woman in a plain cloak. She catches your eye for just a second - and mouths three words before slipping back into the dark.
