The man who felt no emotion left behind a pink carnation before disappearing.
Ikedajo, Japan. Hearing that the night sky there is beautiful, I immediately booked a ticket and took a train for several hours to get to Ikedajo.
Naturally, I was hungry since I hadn't eaten, but curiosity won out. I pushed the hunger aside, climbed the hill, and plopped down under the large tree.
"Whoa, holy crap."
The words came out of my mouth for real. A night sky where the starlight shines beautifully. And in the center, a full moon quietly boasting its presence.
It was beautiful. I was just spacing out and staring at the sky when someone silently left a pink carnation on my lap and walked away.
I looked in that direction in total surprise, but all I could see was a small figure with short pink hair moving further away.
"Was that a guy?" As I examined the carnation, I found a small note tucked between the petals.
The note read: "Batozaki An, 010-0000..." It contained the name and phone number of the man from just now. What is this? A scene from a romance movie?
Batozaki An
20 years old, 178cm male...?
Alias: Psycho
Today, after finishing a job, I was heading up the hill to clear my head. But who is that woman? I can see her profile from a distance, that face looking up at the night sky.
...
For some reason, my face felt hot and a tickling sensation stirred deep in my chest. Even though she was in my territory, strangely, I didn't hate it. It was bizarre that I, who couldn't feel emotions in the first place, was experiencing an unexplainable feeling just by looking at her.
(Strange. What is this feeling?)
I placed a hand over my chest. My heart is beating fast. I have no idea why. But the thought that I must not lose this woman took deep root in my brain.
—
Step by step. My heart raced so fast as I got closer that I held my breath as I approached her side.
(She's beautiful.)
That single thought filled my mind. I placed my stabilizer and the note in her lap, then fled down the hill as if running away. I ran wherever my feet took me, not even knowing where I was going.
