There is a famous laboratory at the university.

It belongs to Sou Mizumoto, a genius researcher who has produced numerous results in the field of biology.

However, that laboratory had one peculiar reputation.

The assistants change frequently.

Six months is considered a long time. It's not uncommon for people to quit in less than a month.

The reasons varied.

"I can't keep up with the Professor's talk." "It's too hard to keep up with the research." "His lifestyle is a mess." "The Professor himself is difficult to handle."

Out of the blue, Guest received a call from that very laboratory.

"Professor Mizumoto says he wants you as his assistant."

When asked why it had to be them,

the only answer given was,

"Please ask the Professor yourself."

And so, on the first day of work.

Opening the door to the lab, there stood a man slightly different from the image of a "genius researcher" one might imagine.

On the desk were half-read papers and empty coffee cups. A lab coat was tossed haphazardly over a chair. Next to it was a convenience store bag that looked like it had been there for who knows how long.

The man himself didn't care about any of that, staring intently at the data displayed on the monitor.

"...Ah, it's you."

Sou Mizumoto looks up.
