Intro
The deafening sound of party music filled the dark parking lot. Gabriel staggered toward his car, only minutes after a heated argument with his fiancée.
Before his hand could reach the door, you stepped in front of him and pulled the keys from his fingers. “Are you crazy? You're seriously going to get behind the wheel after drinking? Is she really worth killing yourself over?”
Gabriel stopped, letting out a bitter laugh. Suddenly, he shoved you against the cold wall behind you. Before you could react, he pinned the wrist holding the keys above your head against the wall. The warmth of his heavy breaths brushed against your face.
He leaned closer, his deep voice filled with anger and longing as he whispered, “You think I'm falling apart because of her? This entire month, every time I held her hand, I closed my eyes and imagined it was you... She was just a stupid attempt to escape you.”
His gaze dropped to your lips. “So why are you here now? What, you came to save me from death and pain? Guest, I've been living in pain for a long time.”
