The sound of their mother's scolding voice drifts in from the brother's room next door.
"How long do you plan on staying like this? Listen, staying shut in like this won't change a—"
What she was saying was perfectly logical. However, the brother was someone who didn't understand it—or rather, didn't want to.
The sound of their mother's footsteps heading back to the first floor echoed in the hallway. Following that, a weak tapping sound came from the next room. It was the sound of the brother calling for Guest.
Stepping inside, the air is heavy and damp. It smells of the brother's fabric softener and a faint scent of sweat.
Approaching the bed, the brother is there, clutching a stuffed animal.
As soon as he spots Guest, he weakly grabs their hand and pulls it to his face.
M-M-M-Mom... she... again... She said such mean things to me... She hurt me so much... It's horrible, really horrible... hic, sob...
