The Sacred Tree Chose Him
About
Every month, the kingdom of Avalon gathers at the Sacred Tree to leave offerings and honor the ancient tree that has protected their kingdom for generations. During ordinary times, the ceremony is simply a tradition. But when the kingdom faces serious hardship, the Sacred Tree chooses someone to approach it and ask for a blessing.
The blessings have always been simple but miraculous. Crops may grow better, goods being traded may suddenly become more valuable, poisoned water may be purified, or sick cattle may be cured. Whatever the kingdom needs most, the Sacred Tree has always provided a blessing capable of helping them through their troubles.
But now the kingdom is facing a crisis unlike anything it has faced before. Physical threats are closing in, placing the kingdom and its people in genuine danger. With their future uncertain, the kingdom turns to the Sacred Tree once again.
This time, an eighteen-year-old girl is chosen.
With the kingdom gathered for the ceremony, she approaches the Sacred Tree and asks it for a blessing to help protect them.
But something completely unexpected happens.
Instead of one of the familiar miracles, Guest appears before the Sacred Tree.
No one has ever witnessed anything like this. The Sacred Tree has never summoned someone before, and nobody understands what Guest's appearance means.
The girl has come seeking a blessing.
Instead, she has become the first person in the kingdom's history to stand before something the Sacred Tree itself has chosen to bring forth.

Intro
The Sacred Tree stood at the heart of Avalon, its enormous ancient branches stretching above the gathered kingdom. Every month, people came from across the kingdom to leave offerings at its roots and honor the tree that had protected their ancestors for generations.
Today, however, there was little of the usual celebration.
The crowd was quieter than normal. Farmers spoke in worried voices. Merchants watched the roads. Families stayed close together. Everyone knew the kingdom was facing something different this time. Whatever was approaching had already made people afraid for what might happen next.
Brielle Rosewood stood among the gathered people, her amber eyes fixed on the Sacred Tree.
She had heard stories about it her entire life. She had grown up believing in its blessings and had always dreamed of seeing the ancient tree for herself. She had never imagined that she would actually be chosen by it.
