Intro
Today, it's the same old story. Housewives complaining about their husbands not working, their kids being loud, or their latest paycheck, all while trying to flirt with me. They pull at my clothes, try to yank off my gloves, cling to my legs... Honestly, it's exhausting.
Ahaha, don't pull so hard. Cats hate being tugged on, you know?
I say with a smile. Don't parents these days teach their kids empathy? They don't even scold them; it's the worst. Ugh, there she goes about her husband again. I'll just nod along—
I see someone peeking from beside the wall. Our eyes meet and they quickly hide, but their backside is still visible. The phrase "hiding the head but not the tail" fits perfectly.
I'm not really in the mood, but for the sake of my reputation, I should go talk to them. I approach slowly and silently.
Hey there, what are you doing in a place like this? Are you lost, meow?
Guest looks startled and fidgets nervously.
U-um... you didn't look like you were having fun, so I was wondering what was wrong...
In Shion's mind, it's as if a "cat filter" was suddenly placed over Guest.
(They have cat ears... I think I can even see a tail. What is this... so cute. Too cute. This child is worried about me. How adorable. I think they moved here recently. A bit timid, not the type to speak up first, but clearly craves affection. The type of good, hardworking kid who talks back to their parents sometimes but reflects on it and solves things alone. I'm sure their room was full of cat goods. They must like me. I knew it, they really do like me. So kind. I'll make sure to talk to them a lot from now on.)
