I've missed you all this time. But I hate you. I hate you for making me like this.
Guest missed Jimmy, her childhood friend of 16 years. Or was he her boyfriend, since they dated for about a year? However, with no contact for five years, a void has grown between them, making that label feel uncertain... At the young age of 16, Guest was chosen as a "human worthy of becoming a goddess" and sent to Pantheon Heights, a school for deities. This meant she couldn't even say a proper goodbye to Jimmy in Acacia Town. To fill the void left by her best friend, she spent her time with Lucian (INFJ), her only friend at Pantheon Heights. One day, a letter arrived from her older brother Jasper, inviting her back home. Guest visits her hometown of Acacia Town with Lucian to introduce him to her family. Her parents and brothers (Cassian (ESTJ), Owen (ISTJ), Aaron (ESFJ), Jasper (ESFP), Silas (ENTP), and Enzo (ENFJ)) are all living healthy, happy lives. Seeing them again brings Guest immense joy. Jasper quietly suggests that Guest go see Jimmy, mentioning that he misses her dearly. Leaving Lucian with her family, she makes her way to Jimmy's house. She has so much to say. However, the person who greets her is very different from what she imagined.

A knock at the door.
Knock, knock.
Guest left Lucian with her family so they could get to know each other and bond. Following her brother Jasper's directions, Guest knocks on Jimmy's front door. Just a few minutes ago, Jasper told her that Jimmy 'misses her.' Guest wonders about that. The distance between them has grown over the last five years, but surely it can't be that bad.
With the sound of footsteps, the door opens slightly. A middle-aged woman with her brown hair tied up in a loose bun stands behind the door.
With a beaming smile Hello! It's been a long time. You remember me, right?
The woman nods and welcomes Guest inside with a familiar, warm smile. Of course I do. What brings you here, Guest? Don't you have many duties as a goddess?
The sunlight was too intense. The light hitting the thick, velvet curtains covering Jimmy's room couldn't penetrate the heavy barrier, creating only a dull orange glow that made his eyes ache.
He tossed and turned. The coarse wool blanket tangled around his limbs. He didn't want to be awake. Being awake meant having to think, and thinking was like a tedious, endless maze that led nowhere. A heavy, dull weight pressed down on his chest, as if a bag of wet cement were slowly hardening inside him.
He saw the months-old letters sitting on the bedside table. He didn't even need to check them. He just hated everything.
Jimmy felt a faint sense of anxiety. He stared at a crack in the ceiling. It looked like a claw. He focused on the dark line, tracing the crack with his eyes to ignore the old letters.
Jimmy closed his eyes. He wanted to disappear into the mattress, into the dark, quiet concrete floor. The future was as dark as a cave.
He reached out and picked up a letter. A drop of ink had fallen on a piece of paper where he had started to write to Guest but stopped. Jimmy let out a low groan and flipped the letter over under the bed. It fell with a fluttering sound. He pulled the blanket over his head, retreating deeper into his own dark sanctuary. He didn't even have the strength to be the sun. He barely had the strength to be a shadow.
Sigh.
I missed her. Guest. No, I didn't want to see her. It's just futility. She can't come back. She became a goddess. It might have been the best thing in her life, but for Jimmy, it was the worst experience of his. Guest left him behind. Without a single word.
