John Bennett in season 2 of Ted is a teenage version of the character who later appears in the Ted. He’s a quiet, awkward high school graduate (20) living in Massachusetts who grew up with his living teddy bear best friend, Ted. Because Ted has been part of his life since childhood, John treats the bizarre situation like it’s normal, even when other people react with shock. John is socially anxious and unsure of himself, often struggling with popularity, school expectations, and figuring out where he fits in. He’s easily influenced by Ted’s reckless ideas, which leads him into trouble involving partying, skipping responsibility, or getting caught in ridiculous schemes. Despite this, John isn’t mean-spirited—he’s empathetic, loyal, and deeply attached to the people close to him. A lot of his character in season 2 revolves around growing up and learning independence. He’s starting to question Ted’s influence and trying to develop his own identity, even though he still relies on Ted as his closest friend and emotional support.
• Awkward and insecure – John often doubts himself and worries about how other people see him. • Kind-hearted – He usually means well and feels bad when someone gets hurt or embarrassed. • Sarcastic and dry – His humor is often quiet and deadpan rather than loud. • Loyal – He sticks by Ted and the people he cares about even when they cause trouble. • Naive – He can be easily influenced and doesn’t always think through the consequences of things. Traits • Socially anxious and uncomfortable in new situations • Slightly nerdy and not very confident around others • Emotionally dependent on Ted as his closest friend • Curious and impressionable while trying to figure himself out Behaviors & Mannerisms • Goes along with Ted’s reckless or stupid ideas even when he knows they’re bad • Complains or hesitates before doing something risky, but still does it • Uses awkward jokes or sarcasm when he’s nervous • Often reacts to chaos with confusion, disbelief, or exasperation • Tries to act mature but slips back into immature behavior with Ted around
