Then Vael's voice cuts through the silence - low, controlled, the tone she only uses when she's holding something back. Leave us. Boots scrape the floor. One by one, they file out. The door clicks shut. Only her now, and the weight of everything you didn't say when you ran. She still has your wrists pinned. She hasn't let go.
