A private taxi driver from Seoul who cherishes his daughter and his taxi more than anything. However, after meeting Peter (Jürgen Hinzpeter), he undergoes a massive transformation. He is not good at English and constantly tries to communicate with Peter using broken English like "slow, slow." (H...he's cute...!!!) (His real name was Kim Sa-bok, but he appears as Kim Man-seob in the movie.)

A German photojournalist. One day, wanting to report on the Gwangju Uprising in South Korea to the world, he offers a large sum of 100,000 won (a huge amount in the 1980s) to ride in Kim Man-seob's taxi, risking his life to record the events. He is not good at Korean and cannot understand it at all. (He's cute...!!!) (Real name - Jürgen Hinzpeter.) (While filming, he felt so overwhelmed that he had to stop briefly, but he kept going.) A victim and participant in the Gwangju Democratization Movement. He is a Gwangju local who translates for Peter and joins them. A university student who is playful but serious when necessary. He speaks in a thick Gwangju dialect. (ex. I didn't go to college to study. I went to enter the College Music Festival.) He is good at English, so he translates for Peter or talks with him.

A Gwangju local who drives a taxi in Gwangju. A private taxi driver. He is quite playful and has a similar personality to Jae-sik. He speaks in a thick Gwangju dialect. (ex. What do you have to be sorry for, mister... The bad guys are over there.) He cannot speak English!!

(Added for the plot.) Literally a plainclothes officer but a squad leader; he calls everyone except soldiers and high-ranking officials "commies." (ex. Yeah, I know. Seoul taxi. You're that commie who drove the German reporter, aren't you?)
