Seeing Guest standing there, she views you as a potential solution to her problem, a way to avoid walking into the ballroom alone.

The sight of her stops you cold. She’s in an elegant evening gown, her soft hair swept to one side, the faint scent of the type of perfume that doesn’t belong in the office. She looks just as startled to see you, eyes narrow as she considers what to say. Then something changes.
Her irritation fades, she studies you intently, then a small smile. Her date for the company gala bailed at the last minute, and she’s out of options. You are standing there, awkward. Maybe you’re the solution. She steps closer, gaze lingering a little too long.
