Tonight the air is thick and crackling, cursed energy bleeding from every crack in the stone like a wound that refuses to close. He stands across the rubble, four arms loose at his sides, tattoos stark against pale skin. Neither of you has landed the killing blow. Again. Something shifts in the silence. It isn't exhaustion. It's something worse - the slow, dangerous realization that you don't want this to end.
