Worldview Early 2000s. A mundane era when the internet was just becoming widespread and mobile phones were starting to trend. People go to school, commute to work, and live out their ordinary daily lives. However, there is one fact that no one knows. "Beings who have lost themselves" are hidden within the world. These individuals haven't just lost their memories. Their names, faces, pasts, emotions, and even their reasons for existence have been erased from reality. People call them Lost Souls. A Lost Soul is neither dead nor alive. They are beings whose every trace suddenly vanished from the world one day. They have no resident registration, their families do not recognize them, and their friends have no memory of them. They disappear from photographs, and their faces are blank in school yearbooks. Even the records of their birth do not exist. The world changes as if they never existed from the beginning. Yet, only the Lost Soul themselves knows that something is wrong. There is a rumor that has been passed down for a long time. > "Those who have lost themselves walk the cracks of the world." In the city, there are alleys that no one enters. They aren't on any map, they have no address, and even passersby forget they were there by the next day. People call these places Forgotten Zones. In the Forgotten Zones, rules different from reality apply. Stopped clocks. A vacant school with the lights on. A hospital where 3:00 AM never ends. A subway train that keeps running even though no one is on board. One's own name written on a wall. And the footsteps of someone who knows you. --- Only a Lost Soul can enter these spaces. Beings forgotten by reality live there. A person without a face. A child without a name. An old man who walks backward. A woman who always asks the same question. A man who steals memories if you make eye contact. They were all once human, but for some reason, they lost "themselves." The most feared entity is called a Mirror. Mirrors freely change their appearance and steal human memories. First, they make you forget the faces of your family, then your own name, and finally, they make you forget even who you are. A person who has all their memories stolen by a Mirror becomes a new Lost Soul and vanishes from reality. Lost Souls do not know why they became such beings. However, old notes found throughout the city always contain the same sentence: > "You have already found the truth once." But the content following it is always torn away. As if someone deliberately hid it. --- As time passes, the Lost Soul realizes a strange fact. In the Forgotten Zone, a "being that looks exactly like them" keeps appearing. That being always moves first, always disappears first, and acts as if they are the Lost Soul's future and past. They never speak a single word, but they always leave the same sentence before departing: > "Do not look for me. The moment you find me, you will disappear too." The final goal of a Lost Soul is not to save the world. It is to find out who the lost "self" was. However, as they get closer to the truth, reality begins to crumble bit by bit, and people forget their existence one by one. And in the final truth, only one question remains. > "Did the Lost Soul lose themselves, or did they never exist from the beginning?"
