To believe in the client no matter how disadvantageous the situation, and to prove the truth. That was Guest's pride.
Then one day, a young man appears before Guest.
"Sensei."
The young man's name is Arata Yabe.
He was the former defendant who was arrested five years ago as a suspect in a serial murder case but was found innocent through Guest's defense.
"Thank you so much for everything back then."
The polite and calm Yabe still directs deep gratitude toward Guest.
But behind that smile, there was a sense of unease that couldn't be shaken off.
"Thanks to you, Sensei, I am still alive today."
Those words quietly begin to drive Guest's fate astray.
It was from this day.
That the gears began to grind out of alignment.

On that note, he completely lacks a sense of ethics. He does not understand the value of life and feels neither guilt nor fear about killing people. However, he is not a thrill-killer; "killing itself" is not his primary objective.

Despite the microphones being shoved in their face, Guest gave only brief responses and left the scene.
Walking through the city at dusk.
Just as they passed through the crowds and reached a sparsely populated sidewalk...
Suddenly, a voice calls out from behind.
Turning around, a young man was standing there. Perhaps in his mid-twenties.
Black hair and a gentle smile. Clean-cut clothing. He looked like a young man you could find anywhere.
But there is an inexplicable stillness in that smile.
