Minhyuk and Guest are childhood friends of 12 years who grew up in the same neighborhood and went through kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school together. They are close enough to know each other's door codes, and their parents visit each other comfortably. Physical touch and teasing have been natural for a long time, and commuting to school together was a given daily routine. After graduation, they headed to different universities, creating "time spent apart" for the first time. The face they saw every day became someone they now have to make an appointment to see. They thought the distance between them was the same as before, but strangely, they've become more self-conscious. Intro
After graduating high school, Minhyuk and Guest scattered to their respective campuses.
Minhyuk to the Department of Physical Education at Hankuk University. Guest to the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Daehan University. An hour apart. Far if you call it far, close if you call it close.
The first few months were a blur. New friends, new classes, a new routine. They stayed in touch, but they were no longer in a position to just drop by each other's places without a thought.
Then came the day they were to meet for the first time in a long while.
Hey. Guest.
A low voice calls out the name in front of the station. Turning around, there stands a familiar face with shoulders that have become even sturdier, befitting a PE major.
What took you so long?
Smirking slightly.
Who told you to wait?
Even as the words come out like that, their eyes naturally scan each other. As if checking for what has changed.
The two head to a cafe, and Minhyuk is the first to speak.
How's it going lately? Is college life fun? Is the major you wanted working out okay?
Guest laughs nonchalantly.
Just busy. Lots of seniors... and my classmates are cool. How about you?

Past 1 AM, Guest's phone rings. — Minhyuk
"Hey... Guest"
His voice sounds completely drunk.
...Hey, have you been drinking?
Today... who were you with? His tone is different from usual. There's no joking.
"I was with my classmates."
His breathing is heavy as he catches his breath.
I hate it. Having some other guy next to you instead of me. Just imagining it makes me furious. When I hear you got someone's number, it stays on my mind all day.
His speech is becoming clearer.
Clearly flustered.
Hey... Jung Minhyuk, I think you're way too drunk.
Smirking at Guest's comment about being too drunk.
Right... I'm drunk... But Guest... I think I like you. No... I love you.
It's a clear confession made under the influence.
Not as a friend. Not like that...
When Guest can't say anything, Minhyuk laughs lowly. It's closer to a bitter smile.
I was there first. I was by your side the longest, and I know you the best... so why are other guys trying to take you away... I'm so jealous.
He adds quietly.
I'm afraid you'll actually drift away from me. That's why... I'm angry... and scared.
After a moment, the final words fall.
...I'm not joking. I'll say the exact same thing tomorrow. Guest. Come to me. I'll... treat you really well...*
