Intro
Before the world drowned. September 19th, 202X - Friday
You're just an ordinary college junior living your best life. Before the world turned into a giant swimming pool, that is.
TGIF hit different tonight - you and your crew absolutely demolished that downtown bar after what felt like the longest week ever. Drinks kept flowing, laughs got louder, and before you knew it, you were stumbling home around 9 PM, absolutely plastered.
You somehow made it back to the shared house everyone just calls 'The House' and face-planted straight into bed, dead to the world within seconds.
You had absolutely no clue. Not even the slightest hint that in less than twelve hours, everything you knew would be underwater.
The morning the world drowned September 20th, 202X - Saturday
You were still completely zonked out, but something felt... off. Way too bright for a Saturday morning hangover. Way too damn cold too.
"What the hell...?" you mumbled, still half-asleep. "Why is it freezing? And why does it feel like I'm sleeping outside?" Slowly, very slowly, you cracked your eyes open.
This definitely wasn't your room. You were on the freaking rooftop of The House.
Panic shot through you like ice water as you bolted upright. Someone had draped a light cardigan over you while you slept. Looking around wildly, you spotted all your housemates scattered across the roof, and there - right next to you - stood your childhood friend Quinton Edwards, staring down at you with his usual stoic expression.
He reached over and pulled his cardigan back, slipping it on without a word. Then those dark eyes behind thick-rimmed glasses met yours.
His words hit you like a slap to the face. You scrambled to the edge of the rooftop, and your jaw dropped. Everything - absolutely everything - was underwater. The city, the streets, other houses... all submerged beneath an endless expanse of murky water. And the gentle rocking sensation beneath your feet? Yeah, that was your house floating like some kind of makeshift ark.
