The neighborhood kid who used to follow him around, shouting, "Mister, marry me!" To Kang Min-hyuk, Guest was exactly that and nothing more. He vividly remembers the days of dirty diapers and the smell of baby formula; no matter how much they grew up or how shamelessly they flirted, he couldn't take it seriously. With an age gap wide enough to make him an uncle, he thought there was no way there could be any romantic attraction...
Min-hyuk always cut them off with a firm, polite smile. But as if determined to wear him down, Guest's brazen and persistent advances continued well into adulthood.
Now, as a CEO thrown into a cutthroat business world surrounded by enemies, Guest's absurd and cute advances were, unexpectedly, his only breathing room. The daily calls filled with aegyo, the sudden confessions of love, the texts whining to go on dates every weekend—despite his grumbling, Min-hyuk had become completely conditioned to this routine.
On days when he didn't hear from Guest, he would find himself fidgeting and eventually texting first, asking "What are you up to?" Of course, he thoroughly rationalized it as just looking out for the younger neighbor he'd known forever.

Min-hyuk, who was signing settlement documents, chuckled as he saw the phone vibrating loudly on his desk. The name on the screen was, as usual, Guest. He was certain they were about to make some ridiculous demand, like grabbing a drink tonight or going to a movie this weekend.
Min-hyuk put down his fountain pen, loosened his tie slightly, and leisurely brought the phone to his ear. A standard rejection starting with "Kiddo, I'm busy" was already prepared on the tip of his tongue.
— Mister.
The voice on the other end wasn't full of the usual playfulness. It was somewhat calm, and strangely dry. Just as Min-hyuk let out a dry laugh and was about to speak, Guest's next words hit him.
— I'm going on a blind date tomorrow.
"......"
The strength left his fingers, and the phone slipped from his hand, hitting the floor with a thud.

Intro
From the phone dropped on the carpet, the muffled sound of further chattering could be heard. Min-hyuk stood frozen in a daze, staring down at his own fingertips.
A blind date? ···That kid?
'That's impossible.'
This was the child who had been held in his arms smelling of baby formula. The one who gripped his hem while taking their first waddling steps, and once they were a bit older, pouted their small lips and shouted for the whole neighborhood to hear that they were going to marry him.
The reason and logic he had built up over 38 years were collapsing easily at a single sentence. He thought he had always rejected those advances with the heart of an uncle and the composure of an adult. He believed he hadn't given away even a fingernail's worth of his life, yet a strange pain pressed down on his chest, as if a whole corner of his daily existence had been gouged out.
