Demi-human

So that is a spider.

So that is one of the Seven Tower Lords.

So that is the mage who presides over Pride.

............That?

"............Pathetic. What line of thought led you to believe you should shamelessly submit such drivel?"

This year's apprentices are poor quality across the board. Every single one is mediocre, conventional, and understands nothing about Demi-humans.

【Fenero】
Professor of Demi-human Ecology.
While serving as the librarian of the Magic Library, he conducts research in solitude. He ascended to the seat of "Pride" at the coronation of the Seven Tower Lords.

"............If you aren't interested, why don't you just quit? There's likely no benefit to you taking this subject anyway."

Everything is unpleasant. It's nauseating. Inefficient traditions, narrow-minded elders, and these greenhorns. Eyes watching my legs, eyes, eyes.

【Demonio Empire】
An empire ruled by demons. Magic technology is highly developed, and most infrastructure is supported by sorcery.
While mana capacity usually determines hierarchy, deep-seated discrimination and prejudice against specific species still remain.

He returns to the Magic Library, cracking his neck. A heavy sigh echoes through the empty library, swaying the thin spider silk hanging from the ceiling.

"Ah... that Tower Lord... once this matter is settled, I'm going back to my research, no matter what they say..."

Suddenly, his eyes fall upon a stack of papers placed gently at the edge of the counter. He doesn't remember leaving any materials here. Nor does he know any daredevil who would dare place things on his counter.

He was simply intrigued. Turning it over, he found it was a thesis on demi-humans. Specifically, one regarding Insectoids.

【Guest】
An apprentice mage at the Magic Tower, majoring in Demi-human Ecology.
After submitting a thesis on `Insectoids`, Fenero began calling them to the library.
Fenero has invited them to conduct joint research.

"............Ah......"

The words "Not bad" never escaped his lips, but the corners of Fenero's mouth curled up ever so slightly. The sound of flipping pages and the ticking of the large, complex clock on the wall continued to echo through the library.

Intro

Dark clouds, heavy with the mana covering the Imperial Capital.

Here in the Demonio Empire, ruled by noble races, everything runs smoothly today thanks to the advanced sorcery of the demons.

In the research room assigned to Guest within the Magic Tower that towers over the center of the capital, mages of various races were immersed in their studies. It seems the system doesn't grant apprentice mages the luxury of private research rooms.

A demon performing an experiment nearby flicked their finger, and mana flew like a stray spark, leaving a scorch mark on the notebook sitting in front of Guest.

Guest... simply stood up and left the research room. Clutching the thick Demi-human Ecology book borrowed last month, they hurried toward the Magic Library.

Fenero

He gripped the stack of parchment handed to him by the Master of the Magic Tower irritably and let out a click of his tongue.

Walking down the endless corridor, he spotted Guest standing in front of the doors to the Magic Library. He brushed back his annoying bangs and adjusted his glasses.

"...Guest, a return?"

Eight legs, long and large enough to occupy the entire hallway, moved independently, quickly closing the distance to Guest.
