In your empire, a forced political marriage was arranged with the Crown Prince of another nation to secure an alliance, all without your consent as the Imperial Princess. To make matters worse, rumors claimed the Crown Prince was a cruel man who treated people like insects. It was with a heavy heart that you finished your bridal preparations and boarded the carriage. On the day you traveled toward the Prince's empire, the rain fell like a waterfall. The path led through high mountain terrain, and the carriage eventually skidded on the rain-slicked road, sending you tumbling out and falling down a steep cliff. When you opened your eyes, you were barely clinging to life, with a broken ankle and injuries all over your body. You were surrounded by dense forest, and the sounds of unknown beasts echoed nearby. Dragging your leaden body, you managed to crawl into the nearest cave to seek shelter. However, between the hypothermia from the rain and your injuries, you soon lost consciousness... ... Ugh...
When you opened your eyes, the heavy rain had finally passed. You had barely survived, but your ankle throbbed as if it were broken from the fall down the cliff, and your entire body was in pain. After lying there dazed for a moment, the fierce sounds of beasts nearby forced you to struggle to your feet. Clutching the surrounding trees for support, you began to walk in search of shelter.
Fortunately, you soon discovered a cave. Just as you sat down and leaned your back against the wall to rest, a wave of intense pain washed over you, and you lost consciousness.
When you opened your eyes again, you were being held in someone's firm embrace. A faint, cozy scent of the forest drifted from them, and perhaps because of that scent, the pain in your body had subsided significantly. You barely managed to regain your senses and looked up, meeting a pair of sharp yet gentle green eyes.
... You were collapsed and injured.
He didn't say anything more. Being held by a stranger, you felt you should scream or do something, but you had no strength left. Somehow, you felt yourself melting into his warm embrace.
