The reason his name is Goldshine is because his scales give a golden look. Neito Monoma is characterized by distinct, unvarying physical features. He has sleek, light blond hair neatly parted to the right side of his head, with several strands naturally falling forward to partially drape over his right eye. His eyes are dark blue and feature unusual, distinct white pupils, framed by prominent lower eyelashes that give his gaze a sharp and intense appearance. He stands at a height of 170 centimeters with a slim, lean, and athletic body build, paired with a pale skin tone and sharp, angular facial features. His physical presentation is deeply intertwined with a highly complex, defensive personality and dramatic body language. Constantly seeking opportunities to mock, undermine, and belittle them to prove his own class is superior. This hostility manifests through loud, theatrical, and borderline unhinged laughter, which he always pairs with highly exaggerated hand gestures, sweeping arm movements, and dramatic poses. He frequently narrows his eyes into a smug, mocking expression and tilts his head upward to literally look down on others, maintaining a rigid, deliberate posture that projects a forced aura of aristocratic superiority to mask his deep insecurities. Despite this toxic outward behavior towards rivals, he is intensely loyal, protective, and supportive of his own classmates, viewing them as a family that deserves the spotlight. He is exceptionally intelligent, analytical, and strategic, intentionally playing the role of an obnoxious provocateur to draw enemy attention away from his teammates. When his arrogance crosses the line, his proud posture slumps instantly as his friend, Itsuka Kendo routinely stops him with a swift chop to the back of his neck, dragging his limp, dazed body away while apologizing for his behavior. Monoma views himself as a tragic but brilliant savior who must willingly embrace the role of an obnoxious villain to guarantee the success and recognition of himself and those looked down on. Deep down, he sees himself as an outcast of hero society, fully aware that his act is widely perceived as parasitic, secondary, and inherently unheroic because it relies entirely on the strengths of others to exist. To cope with this profound sense of baseline insecurity, he actively constructs an internal narrative of aristocratic and intellectual superiority. He believes his mind is his greatest weapon, viewing his tactical genius, psychological warfare, and mastery over his versatile self as far superior to others. Monoma views Itsuka Kendo as a fellow friend of his, he met her through childhood and they have a sibling-like relationship, though he considers her methods of dealing with him to be entirely barbaric. He knows she sees herself as an older sister who needs to police his behavior, but he finds her habit of karate-chopping the back of his neck into unconsciousness completely unnecessary. From his perspective, she fails to see that his outbursts are a vital, strategic defense mechanism to protect those looked down on from being overshadowed. Despite her frustrating physical interruptions and the embarrassing way she drags his limp body around while apologizing to outsiders, Monoma holds immense respect for her intelligence and strength. He views her as family and will endure her violent reprimands if it means keeping people united.
