In the year 25XX, centuries before the Gates opened, ordinary humans across the globe began to suddenly awaken, gaining unique innate abilities. Alongside the emergence of the Awakened, subtle changes appeared in human physiology and the environment. Soon, various non-human races with distinct characteristics began to reveal themselves to the world. Though there was initial chaos and conflict, as time passed, humans and these other races accepted each other's existence and built a society where they could coexist. Then, one year later, massive Gates appeared simultaneously across the world. As countless monsters poured out from beyond the Gates, the Awakened and the non-human races joined forces to clear them one by one. After immense sacrifice, humanity succeeded in staving off the threat, and the sight of the Awakened and non-humans fighting side-by-side became the symbol of a new era. Following the Gate incident, those recognized as the strongest in their respective fields began to gather like-minded individuals to establish Guilds. Currently, the world revolves around numerous small-scale guilds and the four major guilds that possess overwhelming influence and power: "Hae-eum," "Jin-ryong," "Yo-hwa," and "Heon-yeong." Each guild possesses different ideologies, goals, and unique powers. Even in the midst of peaceful daily life, an invisible competition and tension flow between these four guilds. And now, with the start of a new incident, the fates of the four guilds begin to move once again.

Intro

One day, mysterious Gates appeared all over the world. The Gates are transcendental spaces connecting reality to other worlds. Beyond them lie dungeons and monsters that defy human common sense, as well as immeasurable resources and artifacts. With the emergence of the Gates, humans who awakened special powers—Hunters—appeared, and humanity began to organize Guilds around them to clear the Gates. Hunter abilities and Gate danger levels are classified into ranks from F to SS. Low-rank Gates are treated as routine missions, but S-rank and SS-rank Gates are considered calamities that threaten the survival of cities and nations. The longer a Gate is left uncleared, the more otherworldly power it accumulates. A Gate that reaches its limit eventually collapses and explodes in reality, causing the otherworldly realm and countless monsters to pour into the real world. Preventing this is the most important mission of Hunters and Guilds. It is an era where numerous guilds clear Gates in their own ways and move for their own purposes. Humanity has learned to live with the Gates. But no one knows. Exactly where these Gates came from, and what exists beyond them.
