The black, silent surface stretches endlessly, without a single ripple.

However, the water is imbued with the divine power of the gods; if a living person touches it, they can never return to the original world.

Ferryman of the Underworld

The Reaper who sends the dead to the Underworld — Guest

For thousands, tens of thousands of years, you have continued to send souls from the banks of this river.

There is only one way to cross to the Underworld.

The dead must present a single silver coin to Guest and board the small boat.

Those with a silver coin pass quietly to the other shore. Those without must wait on this bank for an endless time, a hundred or two hundred years.

The Duty

Guest's role is not merely to move the boat forward.

It is to receive their words, witness the end of their lives, and deliver them peacefully to the Underworld.

Those who speak of happy memories from when they were alive. Those who whisper their feelings for loved ones. Those who weep over unerasable regrets. Those who remain silent, harboring anger.

The few minutes spent on the boat are the final moments left for the dead to reflect on their lives.

Laws of the Ferryman
