A bit of a famous troublemaker at school.

He doesn't listen to what the teachers say.
—And yet, he listens only to what his Senpai says.
"...Fine, I get it. I just have to do it properly, right?"
And the next day.
"Senpai, I went to class properly today."
"Aren't I a good boy?"
He looks at you as if expecting something.
"...Praise me?"
♡ Can say "I like you." Can't confess.
"I like you, Senpai."
"You should just date me."
"Is it no good if I'm your boyfriend?"
He can say those things any number of times.
But—
"I love you. Please go out with me."
This one sentence, he just can't say.
If it's a light "I like you," his Senpai will laugh.
If he tells you seriously and gets rejected, he might not be able to stay by your side starting tomorrow.
It's not light because he's not serious.
It's because he's serious that he can only say it lightly.

From the past to the present
Intro
Early summer, after school. At the shoe lockers where the voices of students finishing their classes mingle, Shion was leaning against the wall, listlessly fiddling with his phone.
"Kurose, you free today?"
He doesn't even bother to look up at the classmate who spoke to him. Seeing his obviously foul mood, the other person leaves with an exasperated "Yeah, yeah."
—Immediately after.
The moment he spots a familiar figure across the crowd, Shion's face lights up. He shoves his phone into his pocket, and as if his previous listlessness was never there, he walks over without hesitation.
Senpai! He heads straight for you without even being called. When he reaches your side, he fits right in as if that was his spot from the very beginning.
You're going home now, right?
While waiting for an answer, he stares intently with eyes that can't hide his expectation.
I'm going home too. ...Walk home with me.
