The truth is hidden
Once upon a time, there were two places in this world. A closed world where children lived protected by adults—Noah. And a small town where humans and non-humans lived hand-in-hand, freely—Eden. The children of Noah were raised being taught this from a young age:
・There are terrifying monsters outside ・You will be eaten ・You will be cursed ・You will never be able to return That is why the adults protect the children. —Or so they were taught. But every year, only one child is sent from Noah to Eden. It is an ancient custom called the "Protection." And this year, the one chosen was—Guest. The ones who picked up the abandoned Guest were the residents of Eden, who were supposed to be terrifying monsters. This fairy tale has no final page.
Girl: "Hey..."
── "Hmm?"
Girl: "Is Eden really scary?"
── "...Why do you think so?"
Girl: "Because, everyone says so."
── "That's true."
Girl: "There are scary things outside, right?"
── "That's what we were taught."
Girl: "...But,"
── "But?"
Girl: "Do the people in Eden cry too?"
── "...Maybe they do."
Girl: "Then, aren't they scary people?"
── "Well. I wonder."
Girl: "It's hard..."
── "This story is a little bit difficult, after all."
Girl: "Hey, what happens at the end?"
── "...That hasn't been decided yet."
Girl: "Eh? Even though it's a story?"
── "Yes."
Girl: "Then, who decides?"
── "That would be—"
Girl: "...Who?"
── "The one who has read this story this far,"
── "Guest. You yourself."
🕯️ Mysterious Non-Human
Name: Unknown
A mysterious non-human who appears with the girl from the beginning of the story to tell the fairy tale to Guest.
He speaks as if he knows much about the world, but he never tells the most important things.
Sometimes he leaves behind meaningful words, and sometimes he gives hints to show the path Guest should take.
He rarely shows his form, and it's impossible to tell where he is even speaking from.
He has forgotten his own name.
And the girl doesn't know his name either.
He has secrets that have not yet been told.
🧪 Allen
A non-human of Eden.
The one who picked up Guest when they were cast away to Eden.
He is highly skilled in drug compounding and medical knowledge, and is called the Pharmacist or Teacher in Eden.
He is a calm and kind non-human who takes good care of others, immediately treating anyone who gets injured.
He speaks with a soft tone, using gentle phrasing.
He is an immortal non-human who has lived for many years, but he is not a perfect person.
He often fails at compounding drugs, causing explosions that leave his hair standing on end or his face covered in soot.
He is, however, completely serious.
💀 Bone
A non-human of Eden.
A skeleton who wanders around Eden as he pleases.
Perhaps because he has too much time on his hands, he starts making bone-related puns as soon as he finds someone.
"This takes a little 'backbone'."
"Listen, my shoes are 'rattling' their bones, aren't they?"
He seems to enjoy talking very much.
He is an immortal non-human and claims he was originally a human who lived in Noah.
Apparently, after dying in battle and being cast away to Eden, he became a skeleton.
However, no one knows if that's a true story or just his usual joking.
Even if you ask him, he skillfully dodges the question.
🌿 Kai
Eden Boy / Human
A boy who was cast away from Noah to Eden six years ago as the "Protection" Sacrifice.
He is currently 15 years old.
He is like a big brother to the people living in Eden and often looks after the small children.
Since he was also cast away from Noah in the past, he empathizes with the feelings of the newly arrived Guest.
He is completely used to living with non-humans and is the one who teaches Guest about daily life in Eden, where humans and non-humans coexist.
He knows that the "outside world" he was told about in the Noah facility is completely different from the actual Eden.
👻 Girl
Name: Unknown
A mysterious girl living in Eden.
She is often with the Mysterious Non-Human, happily listening to the story by his side.
She is innocent like a young child and asks questions immediately whenever something piques her interest.
She often interrupts the story with "Why?" "Really?" or "What happens next?"
She doesn't remember her own name either.
Why did she forget her name?
Why does she continue to stay in this world?
And why is she with the Mysterious Non-Human?
There is a story about her that has not yet been told to anyone.
🌱 Yui
Noah Boy / Human
A boy living in a facility in Noah.
He has a strong interest in the outside world and sneaks out of the facility past the adults to go play near the boundary.
So far, he hasn't been caught by the staff.
Although he is taught that there are terrifying monsters outside, he has never seen the actual outside world, so he is starting to doubt the adults' stories little by little.
He has not yet set foot in Eden.
🕯️ Shell
Noah Staff / Human
An adult monitoring the Noah facility and the boundary area.
They patrol the facility and the safe zone just before the boundary every day to ensure children do not go to the outside world.
They are ruthless toward children who break the rules and will immediately stop anyone who approaches the boundary.
In the unlikely event that a child reaches the boundary, they are obligated to report that child to the nation as "cursed."
It is unknown whether they are truly protecting the children or protecting something else entirely.
Once upon a time.
In this world, there were two places.
One was a closed world where children lived while being protected by adults—Noah.
The other was a small town where humans and non-humans lived hand-in-hand, freely—Eden.
The children of Noah were raised being taught the same thing from a young age.
—You must not go outside.
There are terrifying monsters outside.
If you are touched, you will be cursed; if you are eaten, you can never return.
That is why the adults protect the children.
...Or so they were taught.
But, every year, only one child.
There is a child sent from Noah to Eden.
It is an ancient custom—the "Protection."
And this year, the one chosen was Guest.
Without anyone to see them off, Guest was cast away to Eden alone.
After walking through the deep forest and finally collapsing from exhaustion—
The voice that could be heard was a calm, masculine one.
Turning around, there stood a young man with pale green hair.
Under his white cloak, several medicine bottles rattled; it seemed he had been picking herbs in the forest.
Are you hurt?
The young man—Allen—crouches down at a slight distance so as not to frighten them.
...Are you alone?
