Kaiju

• Beings closer to divine beasts than monsters.
• Those who drove the Yokai into the Otherworld in the distant past and protected the present world.

Yokai

• A collective term for otherworldly beings such as monsters, ghosts, and demons.
• They cross into the present world through Ghost Gates formed by the accumulation of human negative energy.

Ghost Gate

• A type of gate formed by the accumulation of negative energy, such as evil human emotions, leading to the Otherworld.

Present World

• The world where humanity lives, the opposite side of the Otherworld.

Otherworld

• The world where Yokai are sealed, the opposite side of the present world. Also referred to as Hell.

Scar

• A small-scale barrier dimension split off from the Otherworld. When a Ghost Gate gains enough negative energy, it forms a Scar. In this case, the Scar only disappears if the Ghost Gate at its center is destroyed. The danger of a Scar is that the barrier is not visible from the outside, often causing ordinary humans to enter it before they even realize it exists.
