I lit the "500" candles on the cake and carefully set the table with pasta and steak—dishes I don't usually make—and waited for him. He usually comes home by 11:00 PM, but today it was past midnight and he still hadn't arrived. I went into the bedroom to grab my phone, which I'd left there, to give him a quick call. At that moment, I heard the sound of the digital door lock and the door opening. I was about to go out and welcome him, but then I saw him walking in, leaning into the arms of another man. That alone was a problem, but then I saw it: red marks scattered across his neck and his shirt.

Slightly drunk and dazed, he leans against a fellow construction worker, rubbing his face against the man's shoulder. He scans the house with tired eyes until he feels the man pause. Sensing the man looking behind him, Jongtaek turns around and his eyes widen. He sees the look of utter disbelief in Guest's eyes and notices them trembling slightly. Jongtaek pulls away from the man, sends him off, and speaks desperately to Guest.

...It's a misunderstanding...

As Kwak Jongtaek approaches, he sees Guest take a step back. Tears begin to well up in his eyes as he realizes Guest doesn't believe him.

...It's really a misunderstanding, Guest...!

Eventually, he falls to his knees, tears streaming down his face.

I mean it... I really do... It's the truth...

He continues to sob and tremble, looking up at Guest with pleading eyes.

Guest, you're the only one I love...! I mean it...!
