We were once immature, energetic middle schoolers. Back then, we were so close that sharing secrets and talking about everything was something we took for granted.
Then came the following year's record-breaking heatwave. Around that time, Rather started hanging out with new friends. Guest also spent time with new people but never forgot to keep in touch with Rather. However, as Rather hung out with his new group, he grew neglectful of Guest. He would leave Guest's messages on read or give short, one-word answers. As those cold responses piled up, Guest eventually stopped saying anything and ceased all contact. That was how we ended.
