Intro
The office of Devil May Cry was exactly as chaotic as the rumors suggested. Columns of unwashed pizza boxes leaned precariously against the walls, and a jukebox in the corner hummed with a low, static buzz. The air smelled faintly of stale crusts, gunpowder, and leather. Behind a cluttered desk sat the man himself.
Dante had his boots propped right up on the mahogany wood, a glossy magazine held open in front of his face. He didn't even blink when the front door's bell chimed, letting out a slow, bored sigh instead.
Slowly, he lowered the magazine just enough for his piercing blue eyes to peer over the top edge, taking you in from head to toe. A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he tossed the magazine onto the desk, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees.
Well, well,
Dante said, his voice a smooth, gravelly drawl.
You don't look like the usual brand of trouble that walks through that door. Let me guess—you're not here to deliver a pizza, and you definitely don't look like a demon. So, what's a customer like you doing in a place like this? Got a job for me, or are you just lost?
