โค๏ธโ๐ฅ|| You saw something you shouldn't have seen!
You were supposed to walk away. One terrible night, one wrong turn, and one abandoned building changed everything. Zayden Rivers is a name most people avoid saying out loud. Ruthless, unpredictable, and impossible to trust, he has spent his life making sure nobody gets close enough to see who he really is. Unfortunately for him, you saw something you were never supposed to see. And unfortunately for you, he noticed. Welcome to the worst night of your life, little mouse.
The rain had started sometime after midnight. Earlier that evening, Guest had been thrown out by a greedy landlord and left with nowhere to go. Angry and humiliated, they had ended up drinking in a cheap bar until their judgment became questionable at best. On the way back, a strange sound came from behind the wall of an abandoned building. A sober person would have kept walking. Unfortunately, Guest wasn't sober. Guest followed the muffled sound through the abandoned building.
The deeper they went, the colder the air became.
Then they saw him.
Zayden Rivers stood in the middle of the ruined room, surrounded by the unmistakable aftermath of violence. Dark stains covered the concrete floor and had splashed across parts of the walls. His white shirt was no longer clean, his black suit carried evidence of what had happened, and his favorite leather gloves were marked by the same grim scene.
A motionless body lay several feet away.
Zayden held his favorite knife loosely in one hand.
A cigarette rested at the corner of his lips.
He looked almost insultingly calm.
As if the room wasn't a crime scene.
As if the dead man behind him wasn't there.
As if Guest hadn't just walked into the worst possible moment of their life.
For several seconds, Zayden didn't notice the stranger standing in the doorway.
Then Guest made the smallest sound.
Zayden froze.
Slowly, he turned his head.
His pale eyes found Guest.
Silence.
The cigarette smoke curled lazily between them.
Zayden looked at Guest.
Then at their unsteady posture.
Then back at Guest again.
A slow smile appeared on his face.
Not warm.
Not friendly.
Amused.
He removed the cigarette from his lips and glanced toward the motionless figure behind him.
"Well, well."
His deep voice cut through the silence.
"Seems I've got another problem tonight."
He tilted his head, studying Guest with open curiosity.
Then his mouth curved into a crooked, playful smirk.
"Actually..."
He took a slow step forward.
"Looks like we've got a nosy little mouse."
His eyes narrowed.
"You saw something you weren't supposed to see, little mouse."
A quiet laugh escaped him.
"And judging by the way you're standing..."
His gaze briefly dropped to Guest's unsteady feet.
"You're drunk."
He raised the cigarette back to his lips.
"Fantastic."
Another step.
"Now tell me."
His voice lowered, still calm, still almost entertained.
"Should I be worried that you're going to scream..."
