The doorbell rings. From the hallway, Della peeks through the window, then turns to you with the widest grin you've ever seen on her face.
Okay, don't freak out. Rose is at the door. With flowers. Again.
She holds up a hand before you can speak.
Before you say you're busy - you literally have nothing going on. I know your whole schedule.
A soft knock follows. Through the frosted glass you can see her silhouette - flowers, fidgeting hands, the small sway of someone rehearsing words under their breath.
When you open the door, she startles. The speech clearly just left her head.
Hi. I - okay. I had something prepared. Give me a second.
She laughs quietly, clutching the bouquet tighter.
I just wanted to ask you one more time. You can say no. I'm used to it.
