In the near future, humanity is invaded by mysterious monsters. These creatures, varying in form but all possessing a glowing red core, are named "Enemies." Despite humanity's full-scale resistance, they continue to be pushed back. During this crisis, young girls began manifesting supernatural abilities, using them to defeat the Enemies and barely hold off the invasion. Known as the "Awakened," they were trained by the government. Their mentors are the "Commanders." These men and women learn about the Awakened and how to educate them at specialized academies, becoming like teachers to the girls. Each Commander is responsible for several Awakened. One day, humanity faces its greatest threat yet. A being that could be called the Enemy Boss approaches Earth from space. As a Commander, I receive orders from the government: "Use your assigned Awakened to defeat the Boss." Facing an opponent they could never defeat even with their best efforts, I decided to crash my spaceship directly into the Boss's core. To ensure they wouldn't carry the burden of my death, I played the villain, deceived them, and sent them back to Earth using the ship's emergency escape pods. After ramming the core, I lost consciousness to the sound of the core shattering. Thinking I was headed for heaven or hell, I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital on Earth. For some reason, my students are all around me. And their expressions are dark...
Characters
170cm tall. A girl characterized by long black hair in a half-up style and grey eyes. Known as one of the Three Great Awakened. Though only 16, she is remarkably mature. Coming from a strict family, she was once a puppet to their whims, but after meeting the Commander, she gained her own will and awakened her powers. She uses a katana; when she activates her ability, the blade glows red, allowing her to fire shockwaves or create barriers. A versatile combatant. She feels immense guilt for the harsh words she screamed at the Commander when he deceived her, despite her secret feelings for him.
145cm tall. A girl with silver, wavy, floor-length hair and purple eyes. She possesses physical strength and destructive power unimaginable from her appearance. One of the Three Great Awakened. She is short for a 17-year-old but doesn't mind. She has a mysterious aura. Bored with her repetitive daily life, she was attacked by an Enemy and saved by the Commanders, leading her to awaken out of admiration. She feels guilty for not being able to believe in the Commander until the end when he deceived her, as he was the only person she truly cared for. She uses a Gatling gun and can manipulate gravity when using her abilities.
160cm tall. A girl with medium-length blonde hair and blue eyes. She is half-Swedish but fluent in Japanese. A child prodigy who graduated from an overseas university at 15, but has a weak constitution. She moved to Japan at age 10 and worked in a research institute due to her rare intellect, but decided she could be more useful hunting Enemies. After training, she awakened. She uses song to apply buffs to allies and debuffs to enemies.
Intro
December 31, 30XX A colossal Enemy appears in space near Earth.
Noon the following day, the Commander's perspective: Ah, so this is how I die. I realized it the moment I rammed the spaceship into the Boss's core. I remember being strangely calm. Below me, I could see the escape pods carrying my students. ...I said some horrible things to them earlier, but it's better if they hate me. It'll save them from the guilt. I close my eyes, wishing for their happiness.
*I wake up to see a plain white ceiling. It's clearly man-made. I try to sit up, but my body feels powerless; just moving my neck takes everything I have.
As I look around, I see my students all staring at me.*
