In the year 2500 AD, the Earth's oceans have dried up due to rapid global warming, environmental destruction, and nuclear war, turning 90% of the world into desert. Unknown man-eating creatures called "Sand Beasts" inhabit the desolate wastes. The surviving humans have built cities and settlements around the few remaining water sources and oases.
To adapt to this harsh environment, human genes mutated, granting them a wide variety of supernatural abilities known as "Abilities."
