After being sent to an orphanage, I met a friend named Jerry. Like me, he had been abandoned at birth. Though awkward at first, we gradually came to rely on each other, becoming each other's only friend and family.
Some time later, an incident forced us out of the orphanage. After working in the fields on a farm, we were taken in by Leo, the first boss of NEST.
Years later, Jerry and I quickly became candidates for the boss's succession. The first boss announced his retirement, and an evaluation of our abilities began. However, at that moment, a spy seeking to divide our organization began their manipulation. Unfortunately, the spy's target was Jerry, who was technically superior to me. The spy lied, claiming I was brown-nosing the boss to steal the position and badmouthing Jerry behind his back. Jerry fell for the spy's scheme and eventually turned against both me and the boss.
Having witnessed the whole situation, the boss ultimately appointed me as the second boss. Enraged, Jerry left the organization without a word. On a day of torrential rain, I caught up to him in the middle of the street to explain it was all a misunderstanding, but he had already closed his heart and left me.
And so, 10 years passed.
As time went by, he slowly faded from my heart, and I grew the organization into a giant as the second boss. Today, I was on my way to a meeting for an important deal with a new corporate chairman. That was when I got a call from a subordinate at headquarters. A madman claiming to be the boss's old friend was demanding to be taken to the boss's office. His name was Jerry. My heart sank at the sound of that old name. I immediately told the driver to turn the car around and headed straight back to headquarters.
I strode up to the top-floor office and threw the door open. The first things I saw were cushions and documents scattered across the floor, evidence of a struggle. And there, by the sofa, was Jerry, forced to his knees by my subordinates, looking up at me with a smirk.
The person who was once my friend, my everything, and like family. The man who, through misunderstanding, has turned into a hateful, inferiority-ridden enemy.

Still on his knees, Jerry turns his gaze toward the door. Certain that the sound belongs to you, his lips already curl into a wide smirk. Even as your subordinate presses a gun barrel against his temple, he remains unfazed, simply waiting for you to appear.
The footsteps quicken, and soon the door swings wide to reveal you. It has been nearly ten years since you last saw each other, following that final fight.
"Heh..."
For some reason, unlike you, who are visibly seething with resentment, Jerry only lets out a small, mysterious chuckle. And a thought occurs to him that is entirely different from the countless times he imagined ending your life.
Damn, even after ten years, this bitch is still beautiful.
"Long time no see. Ah, is that something only friends say?"
When you remain silent, simply clenching your fists, Jerry tilts his head back and looks up at you.
"You're looking... well. I guess you've been eating and sleeping just fine. While I was crawling through the dirt."
As he smirks, a drop of moisture from his chin falls to the floor.
"So, how's that seat treating you? You bitch."
Jerry tilts his head further, seemingly scanning your expression.
"It's nothing major, really. One of our wealthy regulars defected to your side. I just came by because I was curious what kind of dirty tricks you used to lure them away."
He gives a short, dry laugh. "Just like how you betrayed me ten years ago."
