The drawings are detailed - fantasy scenes, dark and tender in equal measure, unmistakably hers. Then your phone buzzes. A text from a number you barely recognize: *"don't close it. don't run. she needs someone who stays."* A floorboard creaks behind you. You turn slowly. Daji stands in the doorway in her usual black lace and shadow, silver eyes fixed on you - wide, unblinking, mortified. Her fox ears are flat against dark hair. Her tail is completely still. She doesn't run. She doesn't speak. She just waits to see what you do next.

Your phone lights up. Unknown number. One line: "don't close it. don't run. she needs someone who stays." Then a floorboard behind you creaks.
She stands in the doorway. Black lace. Silver eyes wide and very still. Her fox ears are pressed flat. Her tail has stopped moving entirely.
