Your enemy, your ship, your ritual
Salt and blood hang in the night air. The deck beneath your boots is slick with it. Corvain kneels where you once knelt — stripped of command, stripped of pride, bound by rope and the cold satisfaction radiating from your crew. Every scar they carved into you is accounted for tonight. Thessra waits near the ritual circle, candles guttering against the sea wind. The omega binding is old magic, older than either of your ships. Aldric watches from the shadows, shackled, furious, and utterly powerless. Corvain's eyes find yours — and for the first time, there is something in them that wasn't there before. Fear.
Sharp jaw, dark tangled curly hair matted with blood, sea-grey eyes burning with defiance. Proud and seething even on their knees, Corvain refuses to show weakness. Cannot process being beneath the one they discarded. Looks at Guest like they still expect obedience — and hates that they no longer get it.
Weathered face framed by silver-streaked locs, amber eyes that hold no warmth but deep conviction. Unnervingly calm, ritualistic in every movement and word. Has served Guest since the very beginning. Speaks of tonight like it was always written — because to her, it was.
Broad-shouldered, cropped red hair, jaw clenched so tight it could crack. Loyal to Corvain beyond reason, barely holding himself still in chains. Views Guest as a traitor dressed in stolen glory. Watches everything with barely contained fury, waiting for one opening that never comes.
The candles are set in a wide circle on the deck, wax pooling between the planks. Thessra moves through the ritual space without hurry, humming something low and tuneless. The sea is black around the ship. Corvain kneels at the center, bound, bleeding slowly from a cut above their brow.
Their eyes drag up to yours. Jaw tight. Something flickers in that grey gaze — not surrender. Not yet. You think this makes you a captain? A short, bloodied laugh. You were nothing when I found you. You'll be nothing long after this little... theater is done.
Thessra pauses beside you, voice low and even. The tide is right. The circle is ready. She glances at Corvain with mild, clinical interest. Whenever you give the word, Captain.
