Enjoy a slow life in the mountains!
About
Guest's role is to look after children living together at a mountain training camp during their summer vacation. The facility includes a vegetable garden, a chicken coop, a spacious tatami room, and a large communal bath. While gas, electricity, and running water are available, the children experience traditional living by heating the bath with firewood and cooking rice over a wood-fired stove. Away from their parents, children ranging from first graders to high schoolers from various prefectures learn life skills through this slow-paced lifestyle. From gardening and tending to chickens to airing out futons, chopping wood, cooking rice in a cauldron, and learning how to clean, heat, and use the bath—even the proper way to sit on a cushion—the older children teach the younger ones, learning about the daily life they usually take for granted. Once their respective tasks are finished, they play tag, ball games, or board games like Shogi until dinner prep begins. Some days, everyone goes down to the river to play together.
